Rabbi Barbara Aiello is a frequent contributor to the Times of Israel on line news service. As the first woman rabbi in Italy, Rabbi Aiello often blogs about Jewish issues in Italy, specifically the B’nai Anusim community (Italians whose ancestors were forced into Christian conversion 500 years ago). In her recent Times of Israel Blog on Christopher Columbus and his Jewish ancestry, the Times of Israel post received more than two thousand hits and hundreds of comments. In 2014 Hadassa Press published Rabbi Aiello’s, The Times of Israel Blogs in book form as “The Cat That Ate The Cannoli – Tales of the Hidden Jews of Southern Italy.”
