Felicia Capozzoli –  Sinagoga Board Member and Advisor for Tikkun Olam and Youth Activities put doing “Mitzvot” into action with a fund raising project in honor and memory of her beloved grandmother. We here at Sinagoga Ner Tamid del Sud in Calabria, Italy are very proud of her accomplishments.
Read about Felicia’s project in her own words:

I joined a Relay For Life event to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to free the world from the pain and suffering from cancer and to honor my grandma, Edyce Ross, who, although she had never smoked, passed away from lung cancer in 2016.

Relay for Life is done in thousands of cities across the country.  My high school, Howell High in New Jersey, USA (Home of the Rebels!), has been participating for many years raising hundreds of thousands of dollars collectively. The money raised goes to supporting cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research that can help save lives.

I chose to captain a team and brought together 33 friends to be on our team.  Our team was named “Hope Brigade” and was to celebrate the life of my grandmother Edyce Ross aka Mimi.  Together our team coordinated a fundraiser at a local restaurant. At the event we sold Cinnabuns and temporary ribbon tattoos.  Along with all the donations that the team members raised were able to donate $4559.60 to cancer research.  We proudly received awards for being 6th out of 97 teams.

Although taking on the task of captaining a team turned out to be lots more work than I anticipated, I am proud of the efforts of team, the Hope Brigade, andI only hope that my grandparents were looking down on us and feeling proud.
