The Covenant of Love, which incorporates both the Hebrew and English language (and which can be
modified to add Italian and Spanish as well), invokes God as the “divine presence” who embraces both
male and female.
Rabbi Barbara Aiello is available to officiate at a Covenant of Love ceremony for either Jewish or
Jewish/Interfaith couples. She will help the couple design this special service to incorporate traditions
from both faiths and work with families to build bridges of understanding and acceptance. Rabbi
Barbara will connect couples with competent staff at villas and hotels throughout Italy so that theirs can
be an unforgettable celebration in this breathtakingly beautiful country.
As the world begins to recognize that love, marriage
and family are basic to every human pairing, liberal
religious movements have begun to expand their
rituals to include weddings and commitment
ceremonies for gay and lesbian couples. In fact it
was a group of rabbis from Great Britain’s Jewish
community who became the first mainstream
religious body to offer a gay marriage service.
The Liberal Jewish movement in the UK has
produced a new liturgy, called the Covenant of Love,
which is specifically designed to celebrate these
special unions. Described as a "wedding service"
by the Liberal Jewish rabbis, and available to liberal
progressive rabbis around the world, the Covenant
of Love follows the traditional Jewish format which
includes blessings under the chuppah (the wedding
canopy), a same-sex version of the traditional Sheva
Brachot, or Seven Wedding Blessings and the
ceremonial breaking of the glass to symbolize years
and blessings in the couple's life together.

The quarter of St. Theodore on the hill
commanded by the ruins of the
Norman-Hohenstaufen castle located in the
Nicastro section of Lamezia Terme, Calabria.
Nicastro's origins trace back to the 9th
century, when Calabria was part of the
Byzantine Empire, when a fortress called
Neo Castrum ("New Castle") was created.
Within Nicastro the Jewish Quarter,
"Timpone", was a thriving center of Jewish
life and enterprise.
